Dave Eichorn, mostly known for his work as a television Meteorologist, has been collecting wood and building furniture for over 30 years. Self-taught and working out of his basement shop, Dave has been holding to strict principles of quality furniture construction with mortise and tenon joinery and hand finishing. Dave enjoys creating furniture with simple lines letting the beauty in the wood set the narrative for design. Dave’s furniture is made from both domestic species and exotic woods from around the world. Nearly all of his wood was acquired decades ago, and because Dave is working with many species of vintage material, nearly all of his work is one of a kind...nature’s way. The wood in this furniture is not stained. It is as it came from the tree. The varying colors, and sometimes wild figure of the exotic species as well as with the domestics are natural. Dave has made a number of connections with importers and even growers of the tropical exotic woods. As such, any new acquisition of exotic wood for his furniture is from suppliers who promote responsible and sustainable forest management.
