Among Stones
The things you notice….. without even seeing them. The rhythms, balance, arrangements, movement.... The subtle cues that nature offers to us. This is what I hope to capture in my work.
Maybe it’s the way a pair of earrings feel when they swing from your ears - or the palette of colors in a ring. I try to create small pieces of art that reflect this subtle beauty and will be a reminder of these things when you wear them.
I begin with raw materials (silver sheet, wire & stones) and build each piece by hand using a saw, hammers, files, a small oxy/propane torch, setting tools & polishing wheels.
I’ve been creating jewelry on and off for 30+ years…After school, I began my work as an apprentice in a jewelry shop, mainly doing repair work and learning technique from the jewelers I shared the space with. When we moved to Upstate New York, I started working on my own, experimenting and honing my skills and finding my voice in small works of metal.
Monday, February 24, and Tuesday February 25,
we will get the gallery ready for the warmer and lighter days to come (and they will, we promise!).
Stop in on February 26 for an updated look!
