Artist Statement
John Paul Gardner's newest series of meticulous mixed media works are created from traditional
media as well as found vintage materials including old textbooks, paper and magazines.
Gardner’s selected imagery is primarily old science text books, charts, maps and astronomy
diagrams. Through cutting, tearing, combining, painting, drawing, composing and adhering
these elements the resulting series explores his relationship to nature both present and remembered.
Each image is a vignette that interprets part of an ongoing narrative.
