
I am a landscape painter, I prefer to paint outside on site (plein air). I also do studio paintings with photographs that I have taken as reference material.
I am drawn to water. Most of my paintings feature some type of water element in them whether it's a stream, river, lake, or a waterfall. I want to give my paintings a sense of atmosphere, color, and magic. To record nature as it is but to add emotion and expression without taking away accuracy in painting nature. I am free to create a composition that may change parts of what I am seeing to enhance nature and the viewers experience of my artwork. I want to create an emotional response for the viewer.
There are three things that are important to me; feeling, imagination, and the ability to communicate. When you look at one of my paintings I want your to feel like you've been to that very spot before or wish you could go to that space.
We live in such a fast-paced society. I am trying to get the viewer just to slow down and appreciate nature. I want my paintings to touch something in their soul.
